Love and Inspiration

I sit in my bedroom looking around me. My bed’s bright stripes are a constant reminder to smile. The grey carpet is worn in areas from years of use. The closet doors, which double as mirrors, are marked with mascara and makeup residue from many rushed mornings spent trying to get myself ready for the day. The walls are lined with plaques, awards and medals from my high school years, recognizing me for various things. Hanging from my window sits my cap and cords from graduation and a sash for being a Homecoming Princess. Despite all these possessions in my room, they are not the most important. Hanging on my wall, sitting on my shelves and lining my window seal, hang pictures of my family and friends. Pictures that have documented my life from the time I was a little girl, throughout my adolescence, to now.  These pictures really do say a thousand words. They capture the surroundings, the situations, the styles and fashions, but most importantly, the feeling. A common emotion can be witnessed throughout these pictures.

Love.

It is always baffling to me to try and understand this word. In my opinion, it is the most complex emotion to feel, yet is the most powerful. I have tried to understand the depth of this word and have often come up with no answers. I’m not talking about the love you may feel towards a certain possession or object. No, I am talking about love towards someone else. Is love something that can be researched, read about and thus understood? Of course not.

I know I have so much more to learn about love. I have read and wrote papers, watched movies and studied song lyrics. However I think the greatest love story is one that I am blessed to know. It is that of Jesus. I think the best way to understand this love is described in John 3:16:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (TNIV).”

That is such an amazing concept for me to even try and comprehend. Living FOREVER in God’s presence in heaven... I can’t even begin to describe how amazing that will be. We are all so blessed to have such a loving God.

We can try and understand love. We can try and write books, write songs, and write stories that capture the true essence of the word, but without an understanding of the love from God, we will fall short. That’s a promise.

David and I talk about our faith and these are often my favorite conversations. I love that I can ask him questions, talk to him about scripture and pray with him. We recently had a conversation where we mentioned that, as Christians, we need to love Jesus and love each other. I do not mean just David and I being in love, I mean loving those who surround us and sharing the love of Christ with them.

Love isn’t so incomprehensible to me anymore. God has blessed me with amazing family and friends, and now, he’s blessed me with David Green. So David, if you decide to read this, know that I will never take your love for granted. Know that in any good times or bad times that may come our way, I am thankful for you and that you are in my life.

After reading 1 Corinthians 13 I can’t help but feel inspired. I can’t help but to strive to reach a love like that. I can’t wait to see where God takes David and I.

Thank you all for being so amazing. You truly are a blessing, and more than likely, if you are reading this you have influenced David and/or I in some way or another.

We love you.

P.S. Forgive me if this is scattered or structurally unsound. It is 2:30 in the morning but I was feeling inspired. Goodnight world. :)

  1. Great thoughts girly! And as someone that has experienced amazing love in my own life, you will find that the closer you get to God, the deeper your love with/for David will grow. God designed us that way. I read once that your significant other is God's love manifested for you. I thought that was beautiful, that God loved me SO much, He sent someone to physically show me that love and his name is Brett. :)
