We have had a relatively productive last couple of days. Since midterm week is over, hopefully we will have a bit more time to get things set in stone for the Big Day.
David and I are going to visit a couple more apartments this evening. We are trying to find a cute, inexpensive-but-not-cheap, SAFE place to live. Last week we went and visited a cute little complex that fits these standards that we are both really excited about, but we want to have a couple ideas in mind to compare things to.
We are also potentially buying our cake from Helen Bernhard instead of Lamb's Thriftway. Helen Bernhard is a bakery in downtown Portland that makes beautiful cakes. They are usually pretty pricey but because of Customer Appreciation Month, we could save a hundred dollars or so. Yay for bargains!
David and I are definitely trying to keep our wedding low budget. I am sure you are thinking that is impossible, but we are definitely pulling our resources and trying to get the best deals possible.
For example, my dress was on sale at David's Bridal (although the alterations caused the price to go back...), David and the guys are renting suits instead of buying them, we found a great venue that is pretty inexpensive for 12 hours, my bridesmaids dresses (assuming they are flattering on the wedding party) were on sale for just under $14.00!!!! Whoo hoo!! HUGE savings right there. I hope they work! We are also able to borrow the center pieces from a lady that I work with which will save us a ton of money there too.
We also figured out our menu :) We aren't hiring professional caterers but instead, we are going to make the food. I know it might sound overwhelming, but our menu is not too tricky and with the help of awesome family and friends it should not be too bad.
Hopefully this week we will also be able to nail down the official guest list (I spent a couple hours working on that last night), the cake, possible living places, wording for our invitations (and maybe start printing them!), our wedding website and various other things.
Stay tuned. This week shouldn't be as hectic as last week since I am ahead on homework. It's a miracle. Haha
:)
Enjoy the sunshine!!
